This spot at Yosemite National Park is not nearly as obvious as it should be. I guess as a photographer I should be glad about that, but as the sun was setting and we were racing back around the valley loops to get there it felt a little stressful. Fortunately we got there just in time and I set up next to a couple of other photographers. Then something happened I wasn’t accounting for. A Japanese tourist saw were we and made her way over with her cell phone. She liked the shot but decided it would be better if she started hoping on rocks and making her way out as far as she could so that she could put her phone down at the surface of the water. Everyone there kind of entertained her for a few minutes but when it became obvious she might hang out there for the remainder of the sunset we tried to catch her attention to ask her to come back next to us. It turns out she wasn’t just a little socially unaware, she was a lot socially unaware. Eventually her friends noticed that she was being yelled at by a large group of perturbed photographers and called her back. The last I saw of her she was wringing water out of her socks.
