There’s a question about your own behavior that you’ve probably never considered; “How rude to a child am I willing to be for the sake of a photograph?” I faced this question and failed, the consequences thus far seem quite minimal. Here’s what happened, I’ve been hoping to visit Antelope Canyon for years. At one point in 2021 I had reservations set and the day before I was going to start traveling, my wife came down with COVID and I had to assume that I was just hours away from getting sick myself. Eighteen months later I was finally able to make the trip. One of the first stops in the tour is this spot where a light beam strikes the dust in the canyon in a spectacular fashion. I got the shot and then noticed that a little German girl with a cell phone was in my shot. I immediately elbowed past her and set up as quickly as I could to try again. I quickly learned that I needed to be at the front of the tour group. I have no idea what happened to the little girl but I doubt that neither she nor her hand-me down cell phone was able to capture anything close to this. Hopefully I didn’t leave a mark on her forehead.
